Abstract

One component that has an important role in the fuel pumping system in diesel engines is the Heui Pump (hydraulic electronic unit injector pump) and injector, the function of this pump is as a means of pumping fuel with high pressure to the injector unit. In this study, the researchers formulated research problems including what factors cause the decline in the performance of the heui pump auxiliary engine? What impact does it have if the performance of the auxiliary engine heui pump decreases? And how are efforts made so that the heui pump auxiliary engine works optimally? This research uses a qualitative descriptive method using the FISHBONE analysis method by interviewing the ship's crew, especially the driver as a primary source and the Caterpillar type c-9 Auxiliary Engine manual book as a secondary source. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation methods. Qualitative data analysis using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing This research was conducted and located at MV. Meratus Kahayan as a place for researchers to carry out sea practice for 12 months. In this study, it can be concluded that the factor decreasing the performance of the HEUI pump on the Caterpillar type C-9 auxiliary engine on the MV. Meratus Kahayan occurs due to lack of maintenance and repair routines on the pump, non-compliance with Planned Maintenance System (PMS) procedures, spare part supply constraints, and lack of care and knowledge from officers and engine crew. Impacts included power shortages during the transportation of reefer containers and vessel maneuvers that required high voltage. Improvement efforts included implementing PMS according to the manual book, prioritizing spare part requests for auxiliary engine components, monitoring running hours for performance optimization, and increasing maintenance awareness through communication and education from the chief engineer to officers and engine crew.
