Abstract

A boiler, or steam Boiler, is a closed container that produces hot steam under pressure. Boilers are vital in ship operations, therefore regular maintenance is required to ensure adequate steam supply. The type of vessel affects Boiler function, particularly on chemical tankers, where hot steam is used to maintain cargo and clean tanks. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent damage, especially to fire pipes. The aim of this research is to determine the causes and impacts of fire pipe damage to Boiler that occur on MT. Bauhinia ships. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with fishbone diagram analysis, and involves 2 respondents who are used to gain in-depth insight and are used to identify in general the causes and impacts resulting from fire pipe leaks in Boiler on MT ships. Bauhinia. The results of this research explore countermeasures for fire pipe leaks in Boiler MT Bauhinia ship. Causative factors include leaks in the tank cleaning heater, damage to the low level alarm system, high working hours of the Boiler, corrosion in the Boiler pipes, and the quality of the filling water does not comply with suitability standards. The impacts include the entry of sea water into the Boiler filling water system, delays in filling the Boiler water, a decrease in the quality of the Boiler fire pipe material, erosion of the Boiler fire pipes, increased corrosion in the Boiler fire pipes. It is hoped that this research can provide a better understanding of this problem and can identify solutions to the problem and ensure the implementation of ship operations.
